Meet The Team
Having a great team is essential for success. Our team is very knowledgeable and loves sharing our wine with our customers.
Bret is the first 2nd generation winemaker in Colorado, and he has been working in the wine industry since 1990. After several years of leaning the basics of wine making, he took over the wine making responsibilities in 2000, as well as the day to day operations of Stoney Mesa and Ptarmigan Vineyards.
Although Bret has no formal training, he strives for perfection in every wine. Winemaking is a very tedious task. Being patient and trying new things is a huge part of winemaking. Sometimes a mistake can be made and it will ruin the entire batch and then sometimes those mistakes turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Bret is very excited about the future of Stoney Mesa Winery. "We have a great foundation, the wines are improving every year!
Bret was appointed to the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board to serve as a representative of a Western Slope Winery Owner. His term runs from July 1, 2013 - July 1, 2017.
Betty is literally part of the Stoney Mesa family-sister to Winemaker Bret.
She was the first to tend the vines back in 1990, but motherhood forced her out into the workforce eventually landing in Broadcasting and she has been responsible for much of the radio you listen to. She is now jumping back in to the operation full force and will certainly make a difference! Betty has a background in event planning and catering, bringing several years of hand-on experience in the food and wine industry to the team.
Betty will be running the Ptarmigan Vineyards Tasting room starting September 2013. She will oversee the day to day operations ensuring that everyone has a great experience while visiting. She will also assist Bret in the vineyard and winemaking operations.
She has a very contagious personality and loves talking about Stoney Mesa Wines.
After one meeting with Robin, Bret and Betty knew she was a perfect fit! She is very excited to represent us, and we are excited to have her!
Robin knew of the opportunity to represent us in the Colorado Springs area, and she came highly recommended. She has stepped in and moved forward without missing a beat. She is spending much of her free time absorbing wine knowledge by traveling to other wine producing states to see what is out there.
Robin represents the area from Monument south to Pueblo, Keep your eye open as she does many tasting in these areas. A perfect opportunity to meet her, and try some wonderful Colorado wine!
