Stoney
Mesa
2002
Cabernet
Franc |
 |
|
A medium
body and
firm but
graceful
tannins
give the
2002
vintage
satisfying
fullness.
The
palate
is rich
in dark
fruit—black
cherry
and
fresh
berry—and
handsomely
framed
with
subtle
notes of
spice,
vanilla
and
toasted
oak with
hints of
clay. As
a
result,
this
wine
makes an
excellent
compliment
to
grilled
meats,
spicy
pasta
sauces
or with
hearty
after
dinner
cheese. |
 |
|
Due to
the
Drought
conditions
that
were
prevalent
in 2002,
the
warmer
summer
resulted
in a
more
concentrated
grape
with
less
water
content
and
concentrated
fruit
flavors.
In order
to
preserve
these
rich
full
flavors,
the
grapes
were
crushed
immediately
at the
winery
and
transferred
directly
to small
fermenting
bins for
fermentation.
The wine
then
went
through
malolactic
fermentation
for
further
flavor
concentration
and
texture
integration. |
