Stoney
Mesa
2003
Pinot
Noir |
 |
|
This is
our
first
release
of many
to come.
To best
describe
the Pinot
Noir
one must
use
words
such as
fruit-driven,
elegant,
refreshing
and
distinctive.
This is
a
beautiful
Pinot
Noir
with
black
cherry
richness
balanced
by notes
of
cinnamon
and a
slight
earthiness |

A Great
Pinot
Noir
wine
begins
in the
vineyard.
In 2003,
Bret had
young
vines
but a
light
crop to
work
with
from the
start,
so the
task
became
one of
uncovering
the
vineyards
potential.
During
crush
the
juice
was
given an
opportunity
to cold
soak on
the
skins.
Delicate
nuances
of
freshness
and
flavor
are
contained
within
the
skins.
Cold
soaking
enables
this
character
to
infiltrate
the
juice
before
the
onset of
primary
fermentation.
A
softening
of the
mouth
feel and
further
complexity
came
about
when the
wine
completed
a
secondary
fermentation
cycle
during
the
aging
process,
known as
malolactic
fermentation. |
